Standard (Choose ONE): The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by Robert Louis Stevenson Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley AP English III Summer Reading: 1. Read The Awakening by Kate Chopin. We will discuss the novel during the first week of school. It will also be the novel you use for your summer reading test in homeroom. I suggest you buy the Dover Thrift Edition of the novel. It's cheap, and it's the version of the novel that I'll be using in class. Having the same edition will make discussing the novel easier. I do not recommend electronic editions of the novel as it does not allow for annotations. Annotations are encouraged. Here's a link to the novel: http://www.amazon.com/Awakening-Dover-Thrift-Editions/dp/0486277860/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1463665852&sr=8-3&keywords=the+awakening
2. Complete the critical analysis for The Awakening. (The document can be found below.) Follow the instructions carefully. Be sure to MLA format your document. You may answer each section of the analysis in one document. If you are having difficulty analyzing the novel, you may consult an outside source, but you must cite that source and include a works cited page. Please note: you will be required to turn in an electronic copy of your analysis to Turnitin.com. The critical analysis of The Awakening will be due during the first week of school. Please email me with questions.
You must also go to campolmi.weebly.com for additional summer assignments. These will be updated this summer.
